The Penya Barcelonista de Peguera-Calvi\u00e0<\/a><\/strong> (Federaci\u00f3 de Penyes de les Illes Balears) closed the 11th edition of its Villa de Peguera Tournament with an unprecedented success<\/strong>, which consolidates it as a reference event in Mallorca. For three days, the Municipal Field Es Pas de Ses Llebres de Peguera was the scene of this 8-a-side football tournament<\/strong>, which this year had 20 teams and a total of 260 U12 players, which is a new record of participation<\/strong>. Once again this year, the presence of La Liga clubs such as FC Barcelona, RCD Mallorca, Villarreal CF, Valencia CF and Sevilla FC<\/strong> stood out, and they were joined by numerous teams from different parts of the Balearic Islands. <\/p>\n\n

The 11th Villa de Peguera Tournament began with a format of four groups of five teams each, which led to the playoffs to reach the final. The final was FC Barcelona against RCD Mallorca<\/strong>, a match that raised a great expectation with 2,000 people in the stands<\/strong>. This is also a record attendance for the tournament. The victory went to the FC Barcelona squad by 1-0<\/strong>. In total, 52 matches were played, more than in any other edition<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n

High fundraising<\/strong><\/h6>\n\n

This high attendance throughout the event also contributed to the large amount of money raised by the organization through a charity raffle<\/strong>. This year, there were shirts from Bar\u00e7a, Mallorca, Sevilla, Villarreal or Atl\u00e9tico Baleares, among other prizes. <\/strong>The final sum of 1,500 euros<\/strong> was distributed between the initiative \u201cMario – My Little Big Hero\u201d<\/strong>, which helps a child suffering from a rare disease, and the association Aspanob<\/strong>, which assists families with children with cancer in the Balearic Islands.<\/p>\n\n

Among those attending the tournament, there was the president of the Federaci\u00f3 Illes Balears, Oscar Escoda<\/strong>, together with the president of the PB Peguera-Calvi\u00e0, Sebasti\u00e1n Palmer<\/strong>. Also participated Javier Tasc\u00f3n<\/strong>, Calvi\u00e0’s deputy mayor; Benito Carlos Ferrer<\/strong>, Peguera’s town councilor; Jordi Horrach<\/strong>, president of the Balearic Football Federation; and the fromer player Joan Josep Estella<\/strong>. The tournament received also the visit of Ra\u00fal Albiol<\/strong>, current Villarreal player, since his son was one of the players who took part in the event. <\/p>\n\n
