One of the most deeply rooted summer activities in the coastal towns of Catalonia is the singing of habaneras<\/strong>. One of the largest gatherings takes place annually in L\u2019Escala and is closely linked to the local FC Barcelona supporters\u2019 club: the Penya Blaugrana de L\u2019Escala<\/a><\/strong>. This penya, which belongs to the Federaci\u00f3 de Penyes de l\u2019Empord\u00e0 i Catalunya Nord<\/strong>, has organized the event from its inception to the current 47th edition<\/strong>, in collaboration with the L\u2019Escala town council. <\/p>\n\n

This year, the habaneras singing brought together over 7,000 people at Riba Petita beach in L\u2019Escala<\/strong>. Once again, the supporters\u2019 club demonstrated its great mobilization capacity, attracting local residents, summer visitors to the region, and guests from other parts of the territory. <\/p>\n\n

Strong penyes representation<\/strong><\/h6>\n\n

David Falg\u00e0s<\/strong>, president of PB L\u2019Escala and also of the Federaci\u00f3 Empord\u00e0 i Catalunya Nord, hosted the event for the other representatives of the penyes movement who attended. Among them were Antoni Guil<\/strong>, president of the Confederaci\u00f3 Mundial de Penyes; Dion\u00eds Crusellas<\/strong>, president of the Federaci\u00f3 Osona i Ripoll\u00e8s; and Toni Valverde<\/strong>, president of Federaci\u00f3 Bages, Bergued\u00e0 and Cerdanya. They were all accompanied by the mayor of L\u2019Escala, Josep Bofill<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n

In this 47th edition of the Habaneras Singing, the three invited groups \u2013Barca de Mitjana, Port Bo, and Els Pescadors de l’Escala<\/strong>\u2013 performed alternately throughout the evening. As tradition dictates, the highlight of the night came when all the groups shared the stage to jointly perform \u201cEl meu avi,\u201d \u201cLa bella Lola,\u201d and \u201cEls Segadors,\u201d<\/strong> emblematic anthems that year after year mark the end of this deeply rooted event. <\/p>\n\n
