A total of 28 teams from 11 schools in Sant Cugat took part in this 7-a-side football tournament that aims to promote physical activity among youngsters.

This past Sunday, June 15, the Penya Blaugrana Sant Cugat (Federació Vallès) held a new edition of the Sports Festival for Children, an initiative in collaboration with the schools of Sant Cugat aimed at promoting physical activity among the boys and girls of this town in the Vallès region. In this 13th edition, more than 300 players took part, with a total of 28 teams and 11 participating schools – two more than last year. The event was attended by Josep Maria Félez, president of PB Sant Cugat; Josep Maria Vallès, mayor of Sant Cugat; Núria Escamilla, councillor for Sports and Culture of the Sant Cugat City Council; and Bernat Picornell, deputy mayor. Several other council members also joined the event.

This fun-focused school 7-a-side football tournament was held for over 10 hours – from 9:00 to 13:30 and from 15:00 to 21:00 – at the Can Magí Municipal Football Field. This year, an additional category was added, making a total of four: 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade of Primary School. All matches were played in a great atmosphere with fair play prevailing throughout. All players received a commemorative medal of the 13th Sports Festival for Children, and the top three teams in each category were awarded a trophy. A prize draw was also held, featuring two official FC Barcelona men’s first team jerseys (home and away kits), as well as PB Sant Cugat merchandising items.
