The Penya Blaugrana Almogàvers Garrotxins (Federació Gironès, Selva, Garrotxa i Pla de l’Estany) had a very special Saturday in Olot with the 3rd Jordi Compte Memorial, a new edition of the tribute that the supporters’ club pays to its founder and president. As has happened in all the editions held, this year the tickets for the final party were sold out again, with a total of 2,000 participants, which shows the importance and involvement of penya members, supporters, and the people of Olot to remember such an important figure as Jordi Compte..
This year, as a novelty, the PB Almogàvers Garrotxins deployed a giant Barça shirt at the Montsacopa volcano in Olot to commemorate the day. The image rapidly went viral on social networks and was widely celebrated among all the culers. This shirt is the same that was deployed to the final of the Copa del Rey in 2018, in the Metropolitano, where Barça beat Sevilla in a resounding manner (5-0), with the special farewell of Andrés Iniesta.
Parade of “gegants”, brass bands and final party
The 3rd Jordi Compte Memorial got underway in the afternoon, with a parade of “gegants”. The highlight was the presence of Clam, the “gegant” of the PB Almogàvers Garrotxins, and also of the 7 “capgrossos” commemorating the Champions League titles won by Barça in men’s and women’s football (5 and 2, respectively). The parade was accompanied by two brass bands that entertained the audience, especially children, who were the protagonists.
Later, it was time for concerts and the final party in the old bullring of Olot, with performances by Manu Guix and Stay Homas. To end the festive event, Miquel del Roig and Di-Versiones performed, and two dj’s ended the party: Cabanyes and Xuixo. The assessment of this new edition was again excellent and the PB Almogàvers Garrotxins, as well as the whole town of Olot, are already preparing what will be the 4th edition of the event, scheduled for 2025.
