The Penya Barcelonista Els Tamarells (Federació Illes Balears) was proclaimed champion of the 21st Interpenyes Football Tournament of Sant Agustí de Felanitx, played on the occasion of the local festivities at the Camp Municipal Es Torrentó Mariona Caldentey Oliver. In addition to the blaugrana club, the local penyes of three other clubs participated in the tournament: the Penya Mallorquinista Cercle Recreatiu, the Penya San Mamés de Felanitx and the Peña Madridista Fusión Café Felanitx. The PB Tamarells team, organized by the Youth Area of the penya, won their three matches with great clarity, with a colorful and attacking game that resulted in lots of goals against “bermellones”, “leones” and “merengues”.
Beyond the result, the 21st Interpenyes Football Tournament of Sant Agustí de Felanitx was a success of participation and turnout, but above all an example of sportsmanship and “fair play” among the four teams that took part in it. The event was sponsored by the City Council of Felanitx, which was well represented, headed by the mayoress Catalina Soler. Also present was the president of the PB Els Tamarells, Sebastià Oliver, as well as members of the Youth Area of the FC Barcelona supporters’ club. Its president, Aina Galán, received the champions’ trophy together with the team’s captain, Tomeu Nadal.
