Reaching half a century of history is a milestone for any penya barcelonista and deserves a special celebration. This was evidenced by the Penya Barcelonista d’Arbúcies (Federació Gironès, Selva, Garrotxa i Pla de l’Estany), which last Sunday commemorated in style its 50th anniversary with several events in their town. A total of 200 people attended, including Antoni Guil, president of the Confederació Mundial de Penyes; Antonio Escudero, vice president of the Social Area of FC Barcelona; Joaquim Vall-Llosera, president of the PB Arbúcies and also of the Federació de Penyes del Gironès, Selva, Garrotxa i Pla de l’Estany; and Juan Manuel Asensi, president of the Agrupació Barça Jugadors.
Also participating in the celebration were Antoni Valverde, president of the Federació de Penyes Bages, Berguedà i Cerdanya, and David Falgàs, president of the Federació de Penyes Empordà i Catalunya Nord. In addition, members of about 20 penyes who wanted to accompany the PB Arbúcies on this special day were also present.
Festive and emotional day
The day began at the Ethnological Museum of Montseny-La Gabella, where a photographic exhibition that reviews the 50 years of the PB Arbúcies was inaugurated; it will be available until October 31. Afterwards, there was a blaugrana parade to the headquarters of the penya, where a commemorative plaque was unveiled and where the mayor of Arbúcies, Pere Garriga, received the blaugrana entourage. All those present signed the book of honor of the Town Hall and exchanged gifts. The day culminated with the final party of this 50th anniversary of the PB Arbúcies, in which emotional moments were experienced as a tribute to the first member of the penya, as well as its former presidents.
