Although the match did not go as planned, the Women’s Champions League final once again demonstrated the power of the supporters’ clubs movement, and the Barça family in general, as a driving force behind blaugrana teams around the world. From the moment that the qualification for the European final by the women’s team was confirmed, many supporters’ clubs set about organising the trip to the city of Turin, which this Saturday was dyed in red and blue thanks, in large part, to all of them.
One of the most active was the host supporters’ club of the final, the Penya Barcelonista de Turin (FCB World Federation), which organised a pre-match meeting in a local establishment. Nearly 300 people attended, including many supporters’ clubs from all over Europe. All of them were able to enjoy the hours leading up to the final, colouring the streets in red and blue and filling them with chants of encouragement for the FC Barcelona women’s team players.
Cheering until the last minute
After the meeting, the supporters’ clubs travelled to the stadium, where they contributed in large part to the blauigrana majority that filled the stands of the Juventus Stadium. Despite not being able to celebrate the title, the players were cheered on until the end of the match. Then, they were rewarded for their efforts and their great season. Once again, the match showed how the supporters’ clubs and the women’s team share the same values: effort, commitment, team mentality, fair play and sportsmanship in both victory and defeat.
