The 24th of June 2025 will be remembered as a milestone for the Penya Barcelonista de Sao Paulo (FCB World Federation), which celebrated its 20th anniversary with a very special event for Barça fans living in Brazil. The venue was the auditorium of the Museu do Futebol, located at the Pacaembu Stadium in Sao Paulo, where over 100 people gathered to review the supporters’ club journey until today and to discuss the significant influence Brazilian football and its players have had on FC Barcelona identity throughout history.
A strong Brazil-Barça-Catalonia connection
The main event was a roundtable titled “Jogo Bonito – Brazil’s Impact on Barça.” Moderated by the president of PB Sao Paulo Miquel Pardina, it featured Ubiratán Leal (ESPN journalist), Josep Buades (historian), and Sebastián Azevedo (president of the Gondwana Cultural and Sports Association). During the roundtable, they recalled the legendary Brazilian players who wore the Barça shirt and their impact on the Club’s success: from Evaristo in the 1950s and 60s to Raphinha today, including Romário, Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, and Neymar Jr, among others.
The event also included speeches by Paula Mèlich, delegate of the Government of Catalonia in Brazil, and Jordi Solé, director of the Catalan Tourism Agency in South America, who praised PB Sao Paulo role in promoting Catalan culture in Brazil. FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta sent a recorded message congratulating the penya. Robson Mendes also spoke on behalf of the Museu do Futebol. The evening concluded with a tasting of Catalan products prepared by chef Ines Rey. PB Sao Paulo celebrated the success of the event, once again proving that Barça passion and the “Més que un Club” spirit know no frontiers.
