High participation in the 5th PB Les Corts Children’s Chess Open

Nearly 100 boys and girls aged 14 and under took part in one of the most anticipated activities of the Les Corts neighborhood’s annual festival

The Penya Blaugrana de Les Corts (Federació de Penyes del Barcelonès Oest) once again played an active role in a new edition of the Les Corts Festival by hosting its 5th Children’s Chess Open. The event, one of the most awaited by the neighborhood’s youngest residents, was held on Joan Gamper Street and featured nearly 100 participants born from 2011 onwards. The tournament unfolded at a very dynamic pace, following the Swiss system with 7 rounds and games played at a time control of 5 minutes per player plus a 3-second increment per move. PB Les Corts once again counted on the technical collaboration of the chess section of the L’Espiga de Les Corts association.

The atmosphere at the 5th PB Les Corts Children’s Chess Open was vibrant and full of excitement, with young chess players showing great skill and sportsmanship. All participants received a gift for taking part, as well as a light breakfast provided by the organizing entities. Once again, the initiative stood out for its meticulous organization and its great turnout, consolidating it as a key event within the Les Corts Festival program. A few days earlier, PB Les Corts had also organized a lunch for its members as part of this neighborhood celebration, reinforcing the strong bond and commitment of the barcelonista entity.
