Following the great success of the first two editions, the Penya Blaugrana de Dakar (FCB World Federation) has launched the 3rd edition of its U13 Children’s Football Tournament. This year, the competition is being held at the Alassane Djigo Stadium in Pikine, highlighting the consolidation of this initiative, whose aim is to promote grassroots football and transmit positive values to young Senegalese footballers. Once again, the tournament features the participation of eight football academies from Senegal: Lamine Mboup Football Club, École de Foot Fara Gomis, Horizon Football Club, Entente Centenaire Gibraltar, École de Foot Challenge Foot, Academy Do Galactic, Puissance FC, and École de Foot Feu Mbaye Diouf.
Three matchdays and a final celebration
The first matchday was held recently, with the four quarterfinal matches played in a great footballing atmosphere marked by excitement and respect among the teams. During the day, PB Dakar presented a framed participation diploma to all the participating academies as a token of recognition. The second matchday of the 3rd PB Dakar Children’s Football Tournament will take place next Sunday 3 May, when the semifinal matches will be played, along with a friendly match featuring members of the organizing supporters’ club.
The highlight of the tournament will come on Sunday 7 June, with the grand finale and a gala match between the PB Dakar team and a Senegalese sports association. This year, the trophy for the tournament winner will bear the name of Mamadou Lamine Mboup, former player of the Senegal national football team and honorary president of PB Dakar, whom following his recent decease.
