As part of its 70th anniversary celebrations, the Penya Blaugrana Foment Martinenc (Federació de Penyes del Barcelonès Est) is organizing various activities for its members throughout the year. One of them was the discussion panel “Sport Through a Female Barça Lens,” held last Friday in the conference room of the penya —currently the oldest of all supporters’ clubs— and it was a great success in terms of attendance and organization.
A luxury line-up
The talk featured five female journalists closely linked to the Barça world: Laura Aparicio (Mundo Deportivo), Anaïs Martí (La Vanguardia), Judit Esteban (former Barça TV), Patricia Domínguez (Barça One), and Cecilia Martínez as moderator. They shared their experiences in the world of sports journalism, which remains predominantly male, and where they are striving for gender equality and professional recognition. They also shared anecdotes involving players and other moments from their careers, and discussed current issues related to FC Barcelona.
During the Q&A session, the journalists exchanged views with the nearly one hundred attendees. Hosted by PB Foment Martinenc president Àngel Pérez, the event was attended by many members of the organizing penya, as well as representatives from the Barcelonès Est and Oest Federations and other penyes such as PB Tsunami Blaugrana, PB Sant Adrià del Besòs, and PB L’Avenç d’Esplugues. Also present was Salvador Franco, president of Club Esportiu Júpiter, who had just celebrated promotion to the Liga Élite and presented a gift to PB Foment Martinenc. Joanra Bernardo, president of the Foment Martinenc Association, was also in attendance.

More activities for the 70th anniversary
The 70th anniversary agenda of PB Foment Martinenc has included two more recent events. One was the conference “Embassies: History of FC Barcelona Penyes,” led by Salva Torres, vice president of the Confederació Mundial de Penyes, which once again filled the venue with supporters eager to learn more about the movement’s history. The penya also held its 4th Petanque Championship, which once again drew a large number of participants. On November 15, PB Foment Martinenc will host its 70th anniversary gala, where it will also present the awards for its 9th Literary Conte.
