As happened in India a week earlier, the arrival of the Legends Clásico between Barça and Real Madrid in Mexico once again mobilized the Barça penyes in the North American country. Members of the Peña Rincón del Barça in Mexico and the Penya Azulgrana Tampico Madero traveled to the city of Toluca, the venue for the match, to jointly experience a very emotional blaugrana weekend. The good atmosphere between the two supporters’ clubs was evidence of the feeling of unity that exists in the penyes movement around the world.
Excitement before, during and after the match
The first meeting of the PB Rincón del Barça and the PB Tampico Madero was the day before the Clásico to share the screening of the Leganés-Barça match, where they were able to celebrate together a hard-earned victory. The following day, the members of the supporters’ clubs had the opportunity to share a few moments with the former players at a reception at the Barça Legends hotel. The penya members were able to meet figures such as Carles Puyol, Andrés Iniesta, Frank de Boer, Philip Cocu, Ricardo Quaresma and Ludovic Giuly, who thanked them for their support and signed some scarves and flags.
At the Nemesio Diez stadium in Toluca, the PB Rincón del Barça and the PB Tampico Madero dyed part of the stands blaugrana and lived intensely a match that ended up being decided in the penalty shootout. Despite not being able to celebrate a culer triumph, the supporters especially enjoyed the fact of seeing the Barça legends live. On the other hand, it is also worth mentioning the harmony between the fans of both teams, who shared a few moments outside the stadium. It was a weekend that will undoubtedly remain in the memory of the Barça penyes in Mexico.
