Charity actions of PB Dakar and PB Indobarça Surabaya for Ramadan

The two FC Barcelona penyes collected food to distribute respectively among the local population during this month of daytime fasting

Every year, during the month of Ramadan, some of the FC Barcelona supporters’ clubs of the FCB World Federation that are from Islamic regions around the world usually mobilize to offer help to the population. These are weeks when food at the end of the day is especially important for everyone, and this is often the main focus of these actions. This year, we find two examples in the Penya Blaugrana Dakar, in Senegal, and in the Penya Barcelonista Indobarça section in the city of Surabaya, in Indonesia.

2nd edition of the ‘Ndogou’ of the PB Dakar

In Dakar, members of the local penya coordinated for the second consecutive year to collect funds to make food packages and distribute them to disadvantaged people. This time, the action focused on the Parcelles Assainies district of the Senegalese capital, where the members of the PB Dakar distributed the batches in a health centre, as well as to other inhabitants of the neighbourhood. Thanks to the initiative of the blaugrana entity, all of them had an easier access to the fast-breaking celebration, which is known as ‘Ndogou’ in Senegal and includes traditional pastries and dried fruits, among other foods. This new action of the PB Dakar was possible thanks to the contributions of its members and consolidates the solidarity vocation of the penya.

PB Indobarça delivers ‘Takjil’ in Surabaya

As for the PB Indobarça, the Surabaya section of the penya also mobilized its members on the occasion of Ramadan. In this case, the supporters took to the streets to distribute numerous portions of what is known as ‘Takjil’, which are snacks of various kinds that are traditionally eaten in Indonesia at the beginning of the fast-breaking meal. Days before this distribution, the PB Indobarça Surabaya had organized a fund-raising event open to everyone, which was a great success and enabled them to prepare and distribute the food.

These two examples, so similar but at the same time geographically separated, demonstrate once again that the spirit of solidarity of the FC Barcelona penyes movement transcends any kind of frontier. Next year, when Ramadan arrives, the supporters’ clubs will once again organize themselves to ensure that everyone spends this month in the best possible way.
