The Penya Barcelonista La Riera de Gaià (Federació de Penyes de Tarragona Nord) carried out a new march to Montserrat, an initiative that was born three years ago and that is on its way to becoming a hallmark of the blaugrana entity. The participants, most of them members of the penya joined by other residents, completed the 100 kilometres that separate La Riera de Gaià from the mountain of Montserrat in three stages, stopping in Vilafranca del Penedès and Collbató. Once at the sanctuary, the walkers wanted to ‘thank’ La Moreneta for the titles won by Barça this season and asked for even more success for next season.
This march to Montserrat of the PB La Riera de Gaià was started three years ago by its president, Marc Aznar, together with other members of the supporters’ club. The figure of half a dozen participants the first year increased to 12 in 2024, and this year has already approached the twenty people. For the next one, the figure is expected to grow even more. In fact, this walk to Montserrat was already carried out in the past from La Riera de Gaià, so the penya has contributed to recover a tradition of the whole village that has been very well received by everyone.
After the march to Montserrat, two members of the PB La Riera de Gaià are preparing for an even greater mountaineering challenge: to climb to the summit of Kilimanjaro, the highest in Africa, to wear the blaugrana colours at almost 6,000 metres above sea level.
