The Penya Blaugrana Almogàvers Garrotxins (Federació de Penyes del Gironès, La Selva, Garrotxa i Pla de l’Estany) once again turned the city of Olot upside down with the celebration of the 4th Jordi Compte Memorial, a new edition of the tribute to the founder and first president of the penya. Once again, the entity organised a day full of activities for all ages that began in the early hours of the morning and culminated with a big final party that brought together nearly 2,000 people. Among the participants, there was the presence of the president of the Federació de Penyes del Gironès, La Selva, Garrotxa and Pla de l’Estany, Quim Vall-llosera, as well as other members of penyes from the region.
An intense day
The activity got underway in Plaça Mora, where the penya’s headquarters are located, with a solidarity spinning session. This was followed by the traditional street parade, led by the ‘gegant’ Clamor and the ‘capgrossos’ symbolising the Champions League won by the Barça men’s and women’s teams, and with different elements of Olot’s entertainment scene. The cobla La Principal de Olot and the brass band Bufant Fort livened up an activity that especially attracted the youngest members of the public.

In the evening came the big party of the 4th Jordi Compte Memorial in the Plaça de Braus, which presented a truly luxurious line-up with concerts by Els Pets, Els Catarres and Miquel del Roig. Nearly 2,000 people sold out the tickets for a celebration that ended with a session by local DJ Enric Canadell. As every year, the Olot Market was set up outside the venue, with the participation of various local businesses and organisations.
Solidarity donation
During this festival, the Almogàvers Garrotxins made a brief act in which they remembered the figure of Jordi Compte, and which this year had a clear solidarity aspect. Thanks to the contributions of the participants to the Memorial and the spinning activity, the penya donated more than 1,500 euros to the Albert Bosch Foundation-Hospital Vall de Hebron, which works in child cancer research. It was the perfect final of a very special day for the whole town of Olot.
