The Penya Blaugrana Vandoeuvre Lorraine, which belongs to the FCB World Federation, recently held a 5-a-side football tournament to raise awareness of the fight against amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). The initiative of the French supporters’ club is part of the campaign ‘Mets tes Baskets et Bats la Maladie’ (Put on your sneakers and beat the disease), promoted by the ELA Association in France, which every year involves schools and children’s clubs to raise awareness of this degenerative disease.
In its case, the PB Lorraine took part with around fifty children from their children’s football academy, who were divided into different teams to play a tournament at the club’s facilities. Beyond the results, the priority of the tournament was to raise awareness in the fight against ALS, which continues to evolve despite the difficulties. In addition, this tournament was played within the framework of Pink October, a month in which we also want to transmit the importance of the fight against breast cancer.
This collaboration with the ELA Association is yet another solidarity initiative by PB Lorraine, which stands out for its social commitment and its involvement in causes of this type. In fact, the French penya’s grassroots football academy, located in the municipality of Vandoeuvre-lès-Nancy, offers an opportunity for the sons and daughters of poor families to learn to play football and perfect their technique. The supporters’ club is already preparing new actions for the future.
