Beyond the football tournaments, which are usually the highlight of the blaugrana entities, the penyes also mobilize the younger supporters through other sporting or recreational activities. One of them is the Peña Barcelonista de Orihuela (Federació Comarques d’Alacant), which recently organized in its premises the I Chess Tournament, in collaboration with the Orihuela Chess Club.
The tournament was a great success with the participation of 40 children, who were divided into two categories: under 12 and over 12. The overall winner of the tournament, winning in both categories, was Marcos Ruiz, who surprisingly was in the U-12 category. I In any case, the PB Orihuela distributed medals to all participants. The event was led by the president of the penya, Javi Domenech and his board of directors. hey all hope to hold more tournaments of this type, as the PB Orihuela stands out for its social and union events among its members.
The PB Sant Joan Despí promotes eSports and dominoes
Another of the activities promoted by the clubs is eSports, and the Penya Barcelonista Sant Joan Despí (Federació Baix Llobregat) has become one of the most committed to it. The entity hosted its 7th tournament at the Casal de Joves El Bulevard de Sant Joan Despí, an entity with which the penya barcelonista collaborates on a regular basis. The competition, played with the EA FC 24 video game, made the youngsters demonstrate their skills at the controls. The quarterly activity has been consolidated and has more and more participants, in which the most important role is always present: fair play among all players.
Recently, the PB Sant Joan Despí also organized its 16th Domino Tournament, on the occasion of the local festivity. Ten couples participated and played against each other, in an activity in which a good atmosphere, sportsmanship and a good level reigned. The sports councilor of the City Council of Sant Joan Despí, Francesc Vives, was present at the event, which ended with the award of prizes to the winners. All attendees were summoned to 2025 to enjoy the tournament again.
