PB Sant Cugat scores another goal against Alzheimer’s disease

The penya of the Federació Vallès raised nearly 600 euros for the Association of Relatives of Alzheimer’s patients in Vallès Occidental

Last Saturday, the Penya Blaugrana Sant Cugat (Federació Vallès) organised a new edition of the charity initiative “Marca-li un Gol a l’Alzheimer!” (Score a Goal against Alzheimer’s!) together with the Association of Relatives of Alzheimer’s patients in Vallès Occidental. The event was held in the morning at the Can Magí Municipal Field and, despite the rain, recorded a record turnout resulting in almost 600 euros raised, all of which will go to the Association of Relatives of Alzheimer’s patients in Vallès Occidental. The event, which was open to everyone, was sponsored by Feliu Franquesa Serveis Immobiliaris i Jurídics, and had the collaboration of Sant Cugat City Council.

A very successful edition

Once again, each participant bought a solidarity ticket to take two penalty kicks against goalkeepers of the PB Sant Cugat-H8S teams. In total, 376 penalty kicks were taken throughout the day, making it the highest number of all the editions of this initiative. A shirt from the current FC Barcelona 3rd kit was raffled among all the participants; in addition, those who scored both penalties were entered into a draw to win a vintage blaugrana ball. The two goalkeepers responsible for saving the participants’ penalties were also recognized.

Josep Maria Félez, president of the Penya Blaugrana Sant Cugat, celebrated the success of this 4th edition of “Marca-li un Gol a l’Alzheimer!” in terms of participation and fundraising, while Anna Fitó, president of the Association of Relatives of Alzheimer’s patients in Vallès Occidental, stressed the importance of reaching out to more people to raise awareness of this disease. Also present were numerous members of the Sant Cugat City Council, headed by Núria Escamilla, councillor for sports and culture, and Bernat Picornell, 2nd deputy mayor, as well as representatives of entities collaborating with the event. In addition, the PB Sant Andreu de la Barca, twinned with the PB Sant Cugat, did not want to miss this new edition of the solidarity initiative.
