Last Sunday, a new edition of La Marató de 3Cat took place, and the movement of Barça penyes once again mobilized to join this major charitable initiative. Throughout Catalonia, various blaugrana entities organized different activities involving their members and followers to raise funds that will go toward the fight against cancer, which is this year’s objective of La Marató de 3Cat.
Once again, one of the most notable initiatives was the Solidarity Raffle of the PB Anguera (Fed. Barcelonès Oest), which once more broke all records, reaching €8,900 in donations thanks to massive participation throughout the weekend. Also becoming a tradition is the solidarity vermouth organized by the PB Cambrils (Fed. Tarragona Nord) together with the Penya Blanc i Blava de Cambrils, which was once again a success this year with €1,400 raised.
Solidarity meetings across the region
The traditional Solidarity “Escudellada” by the PB Monells (Fed. Empordà i Catalunya Nord) also took place, this year marking its 12th edition and bringing together around 300 people. Meanwhile, the PB Sant Andreu de la Barca (Fed. Baix Llobregat) once again gathered many members at its 8th Solidarity Breakfast, collecting 750 euros in donations, while PB Tortosa (Fed. Terres de l’Ebre) raised almost 400 euros with a solidarity afternoon snack for its members. The PB Masnou-Ocata (Fed. Maresme) also organized a solidarity dinner at its headquarters, while the PB Soses (Fed. Ponent Nord) held a solidarity vermouth.
Other penyes donated funds raised from previous activities, such as the PB Amics d’Ascó, which collected more than €520 in a solidarity raffle during the town’s Christmas Fair, and the PB Faió, which dedicated all proceeds from the Barça–Atlético de Madrid match (€200) to the cause. Meanwhile, the PB Balaguer i Comarca (Fed. Ponent Nord) began selling solidarity tickets for a raffle of Barça shirts, and the PB Tordera (Fed. Maresme) ran a stall at the town’s Solidarity Market.
All these actions once again demonstrated that the solidarity values of Barça penyes remain stronger than ever, and that La Marató de 3Cat can always count on the full support of our movement to continue improving the health and quality of life of many people.
