With the arrival of such special dates as the Christmas season, Barça supporters’ clubs intensify their solidarity actions to ensure that those most in need can enjoy this time of year. In this case, the main recipients are the youngest members of the family, who experience the Christmas holidays with particular sensitivity. The initiatives were led by Penya Barcelonista Miami-Dade, Penya Barcelonista Washington DC and Peña Barcelonista Familia Blaugrana de Panamá, all of them part of the FCB World Federation.
Toy drives in Miami and Panama
Just like last year, PB Miami-Dade delivered toys to Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, one of the most important children’s hospitals in Florida. This action was made possible thanks to the involvement of the penya’s members and friends, who contributed new toys during the watch parties for the matches against Betis, Atlético de Madrid, and Eintracht Frankfurt. Once again, PB Miami-Dade demonstrates its spirit of solidarity and commitment to building community.
As for the Peña Familia Blaugrana de Panamá, they used the watch party for last Saturday’s match against Osasuna to collect toys in collaboration with the Dame una Mano Foundation. Thanks to the contributions of the Panamanian supporters, these toys will reach the children of the Beatriz Jaén de Arosemena Shelter Home, in central Panama, helping them enjoy the holiday season. This is yet another example of the social commitment of PB Familia Blaugrana de Panamá.
Gift cards in Washington DC
PB Washington DC also organised a solidarity initiative aimed at helping children and teenagers in their city. The penya carried out a fundraising campaign during November and December, resulting in a total of $1,400, which were converted into 56 gift cards worth $25 each. Thanks to the Partners for Kids and Families program of the Child and Family Services Agency of Washington DC, these gift cards will be distributed to disadvantaged children and young people so they can use them during this Christmas season. PB Washington DC organises this action every year at this time.
