The Federación de Andalucía, Ceuta y Melilla and the PB “Segundo Triplete” Lepe organized the 15th Congress of Penyes of Andalucia, Ceuta and Melilla last weekend. The event, held in the town of Islantilla (Huelva), gathered over 800 supporters representing 92 penyes from the region, who shared numerous activities and a great spirit of Barça camaraderie.

Among the attendees were José Antonio Adame, president of the Federación de Andalucia, Ceuta y Melilla; Francisco José Franco, president of the PB “Segundo Triplete” Lepe; and Diego Peral, secretary of the Andalousian federation. Representing FC Barcelona were president Joan Laporta, social vice-president Antonio Escudero, board member Josep Ignasi Macià, and Juan Manuel Asensi, president of the Barça Jugadors. Former footballers Hristo Stoichkov and Esteban Vigo, as well as Barça basketball legend Audie Norris, were also present. The presidents of other federations of penyes – Miguel Ángel Cruz (Extremadura), Salvador Cerviño (Galicia), and Pablo Asensio (Asturias y Cantabria) – did not miss the event either.

Two days packed with activities

The program kicked off on Friday with a press conference at the headquarters of the PB “Segundo Triplete” Lepe, followed by an official reception at the Town Hall, led by deputy mayor Ana Delgado. A floral offering was also made to the local patron saint, Our Lady of La Bella Coronada, at the Santo Domingo de Guzmán church. The inauguration of a special exhibition for the occasion and the institutional dinner at the Puerto Antilla Grand Hotel in Islantilla closed the first day.

Saturday began with excursions and visits offered by the organizers to participating supporters. Afterwards, the parade of flags and banners from the 90 penyes attending the congress filled the streets of Lepe with Barça colors, ending at Manuel Camacho Square. There, the opening ceremony of the congress took place, joined by the president of the Islantilla Commonwealth and mayor of Isla Cristina, Jenaro Orta. A popular festival, a proclamation, and a Barça-themed colloquium filled the Saturday afternoon, which concluded with the working session of the 15th Congress of Andalucia, Ceuta and Melilla. The gala dinner was the perfect finale to this great Barça event.
