Once again, the community of Barça penyes has taken part in the “Gran Recapte” food drive, an annual initiative by the Food Bank aimed at raising awareness and mobilizing the population in the fight against hunger among the most disadvantaged. Whether by actively participating in food collection, making donations, or volunteering at participating establishments, the penyes have once again demonstrated their spirit of solidarity. The Penya Barcelonista Isona i Conca Dellà (Federació Ponent Nord) and the Penya Casal Barcelonista Francesc Serra de Tarragona (Federació Tarragona Nord) are two examples of commitment to this cause.
Collections and donations
True to its yearly involvement with the Gran Recapte, PB Isona i Conca Dellà has been one of the entities leading the food collection campaign in its municipality. With the collaboration of local businesses, the penya mobilized for six days to collect as many non-perishable items as possible, such as milk, oil, pasta, or cookies, among others. Once the process was over, the PB Isona and Conca Dellà transported all the collected food to the Food Bank headquarters in Tremp, where it will be distributed among families most in need. The penya expressed its gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of this initiative.
As for the Penya Casal Barcelonista Francesc Serra de Tarragona, it quickly joined the Gran Recapte campaign in its city by making a financial donation to the Food Bank of the Tarragona Counties. Specifically, the penya contributed €300 to purchase food and essential products, helping to replenish the charity’s reserves and continue supporting people in vulnerable situations. Salvador Solà, president of the PB Casal Barcelonista, handed over the donation to Josep Maria Solanes, president of the Food Bank of the Tarragona Counties.
