The Confederació supports the new solidarity convoy of Sor Lucía Caram to Ukraine

The Confederació and a delegation from Aficiones Unidas were present at the departure of the humanitarian mission, which includes 21 vehicles and all kinds of equipment for the Ukrainian population

The Confederació Mundial de Penyes attended the official departure of a new solidarity convoy to Ukraine organized by the Santa Clara Convent Foundation, led by Sor Lucía Caram. The event, held last Friday at the Sagrada Família in Barcelona, was also attended by a delegation from Aficiones Unidas, headed by its president, José A. Hidalgo. In this way, both organizations continued to show their support for this new humanitarian corridor that will deliver aid to the Ukrainian population, just as four years have passed since the start of the invasion by Russia.

10 ambulances and equipment for the cold

This is already the 42nd solidarity convoy, known as the “Caravan of Goodness”, organized by the Santa Clara Convent Foundation. On this occasion, it consists of a total of 21 vehicles, including 10 ambulances and other rescue units, which will be transported by around fifty volunteers to the regions of Ukraine most affected by the conflict. Among the materials being transported are electric generators, defibrillators and medicines, as well as warm clothing—everything aimed at helping the population cope with the harsh winter temperatures. Ramon Térmens, Síndic de Penyes of the Confederation, contributed by providing two vehicles.

Since the beginning of the invasion on February 24, 2022, Sor Lucía Caram’s Santa Clara Foundation has sent numerous ambulances and tons of supplies to Ukrainian citizens. It has also established direct contacts with hospitals, local authorities, and emergency teams that now receive assistance from the foundation. In addition, thanks to its mediation, the evacuation of at least 4,000 wounded or vulnerable people to Spain has been facilitated.

Commitment to Sor Lucía Caram and to Ukraine

The solidarity with those most in need that Sor Lucía Caram has always demonstrated is a value shared by both the Confederació Mundial de Penyes and Aficiones Unidas. In the case of the Barça supporters’ organization, it has been collaborating with the activist for years on several of her projects, recently focused on aid to Ukraine. The most recent example took place at PB Vicenç Piera (Fed. Terres de l’Ebre), which organized a screening of the documentary “Ukraine, Resistance and Hope”, an event attended by 250 people, with Sister Lucía herself present.

Furthermore, since the beginning of the conflict, the Confederació Mundial de Penyes, the federations, and many supporters’ clubs have carried out all kinds of initiatives to help the population of Ukraine. These range from solidarity collections of food and essential items, to fundraising campaigns, to support efforts for welcoming Ukrainian citizens; the movement has always demonstrated its commitment.
