The calendar of activities related to Barça’s historical and cultural dissemination is still in full swing within the penyes movement. Over the last few weeks, several organizations have hosted the ‘Barça i Catalunya’ conferences and presentations of books such as “Ambaixades” and ‘El Contracte’. In all these events, the attendees have been able to learn more about key events in the history of FC Barcelona and its supporters’ clubs.
‘Ambaixades’ at PB Poblenou
The most recent innovation in the Confederació Mundial de Penyes commitment to the historical dissemination of the penyes movement is the publication of the book “Ambaixades. Historia de les Penyes del FC Barcelona” (Embassies. History of the FC Barcelona Penyes), written by Salva Torres, vice-president of the organization. After its premiere at the headquarters of the Confederació, it was recently the PB Poblenou (Federació Barcelonès Est) which hosted the presentation of the publication, with the presence of its author. The event was held at the penya’s headquarters and was also attended by other organizations such as the PB Districte XXVII La Sagrera.
On the other hand, the ‘Barça i Catalunya’ cycle of conferences continues to tour the Catalan territory explaining the historical link between Barça and the Catalan society throughout its history. Recently, the talk, also led by Salva Torres, visited the PB Golmés (Federació Lleida Sud i la Franja), the PB Prats de Molló (Federació Empordà i Catalunya Nord) and the PB Guardiola de Berguedà (Federació Bages, Berguedà i Cerdanya), where it aroused great interest among the supporters. Looking ahead to the month of June, several penyes have already scheduled conferences in this cycle.
The PB Breda presents ‘El Contracte’
As part of its 50th anniversary celebrations, the PB Breda (Federació Gironès, Selva, Garrotxa i Pla de l’Estany) also organised a literary event at its headquarters; specifically, the presentation of the book ‘El Contracte’ (The Contract). The author, Ramon M. Piqué, gave the attendees a little bit of the story behind the arrival of Johan Cruyff at Barça, which is captured and documented in this publication.
