The Peña Barcelonista Valdelacalzada , part of the Federación de Peñas Barcelonistas Extremeñas, recently held the third edition of its Gathering of Penyes in its hometown. The event brought together a total of five penyes (Barça, Atlético, and Real Madrid fans) from this region of Badajoz to enjoy a sporting and festive day where team colors took a back seat. The participating penyes included the host PB Valdelacalzada, Peña Barcelonista Talavera la Real, Peña Atlética Puebla de la Calzada, Peña Atlética Montijo, and Peña Madridista Pueblonuevo.
Thanks to the collaboration of the Valdelacalzada Town Council, which provided the Municipal Pavilion for this III Gathering, the penyes held a friendly futsal tournament in a round-robin format. Before that, three youth teams from Valdelacalzada, Guadiana, and Pueblonuevo also played a friendly tournament, further promoting grassroots football in the region. To close the day, a special match was held between friends of the Barça president and friends of Real Madrid, all in a festive atmosphere.
Next host of the Federación de Extremadura
The PB Valdelacalzada, led by president Sergio Charco, included activities for the whole family in this Gathering. There were inflatables for the little ones and a DJ who provided music throughout the day. Additionally, football shirt raffles were held, with proceeds going toward travel expenses for penya members attending matches. The great atmosphere was the highlight of this III Gathering of Penyes, showing that respect and harmony can rise above team rivalries.
With initiatives like this, the PB Valdelacalzada continues to energize Barça spirit and its values in the region. The penya has nearly a hundred members and is experiencing a new phase after being reactivated post-pandemic. In fact, it will host the next assembly of the Federación de Extremadura, scheduled for Sunday, October 19.
