After expanding the number of participants and the duration last year, the Penya Blaugrana d’Anglès (Federació Gironès, Selva, Garrotxa i Pla de l’Estany) has once again proven that its ‘Kings Lliga’ has become a very popular event in the region. The 3rd edition of this original tournament took place last Saturday, July 5, at the Anglès Municipal Pavilion, which was packed to enjoy 16 non-stop hours of competition: from 8 a.m. to midnight. Once again, 16 teams participated, not only from Anglès itself but also from Girona, La Cellera de Ter, Banyoles, and Sant Hilari Sacalm.
After an initial stage with four groups, the knockout rounds were played, leading to the grand final, which was won by the team Can Pons. This year, PB Anglès increased the prize for the champions to €1,000, while the runners-up received 400€. Awards were also given for best player, best goalkeeper, and top scorer. The penya once again had the support of the Anglès Town Council, which was reflected in the presence of the mayor, Jordi Pibernat, and the culture councillor, Clàudia Pibernat, who presented the trophies.

Fun and fair play
The 3rd ‘Kings Lliga’ of PB Anglès was played in futsal format, but with the added excitement and unpredictability brought by the popular cards. For this edition, the penya added and modified some of the cards to make the matches even more entertaining, often leaving the outcome undecided until the very last moment. Moreover, as highlighted by president of the PB Anglès, Jordi Casals, fair play and a positive atmosphere among participants remained the tournament’s top priorities.
Both PB Anglès and all participants and stakeholders celebrated the great success of this 3rd edition and are already looking ahead to the next one, next year. With initiatives like the ‘Kings Lliga’, the Barça supporters’ club continues to show its strong commitment to energizing life in Anglès, fostering community spirit, and, of course, spreading Barça passion and its associated values.
