Solidarity initiatives from Barça penyes during the month of Ramadan take place all over the world. This year, in addition to the 3rd Ndogou of PB Dakar, the initiatives organised by the Penya Indobarça stand out, particularly those focused on helping young people. Specifically, the Jakarta and Jogja sections of the Indonesian penya have collaborated with social organisations that care for children in vulnerable situations.
An afternoon of activities in Jakarta
In the capital, the Jakarta chapter of PB IndoBarça joined forces with The Umbrella Wisdom, a non-profit organisation that works to improve the lives of underprivileged children and young people. Members of the penya organised a gathering to break the fast together with the children of the centre, supporting them during a particularly difficult time for those with limited resources.
In addition to distributing food, PB Indobarça Jakarta organised various activities for the little ones, including drawing materials and other games. Thanks to the supporters and the teaching staff of The Umbrella Wisdom, the children welcomed by the organisation enjoyed a very special afternoon, with the blaugrana colours also taking centre stage. Yet another example that Barça’s values are present everywhere thanks to the penyes.
Support for an orphanage in Jogja
As for the PB Indobarça chapter Jogja, the chosen beneficiary was the Bina Siwi orphanage, located south of Yogyakarta, on the island of Java. Several members of the Barça supporters’ club travelled there to share the breaking of the fast with the young residents of the centre, to whom they distributed food packages collected by the penya. In addition, the supporters delivered essential goods and made a cash donation to the orphanage.
In total, PB Indobarça Jogja raised 5,000,000 Indonesian rupiahs (around €255) thanks to contributions made by its members, whom the Barça supporters’ club has especially thanked for taking part in this initiative. Once again, the PB Indobarça chapter Jogja demonstrated that the blaugrana community they have built goes beyond supporting the blaugrana colours and translates into solidarity actions such as this one.
