After the great success of its first edition, the 2nd Joan Casals i Boixader Memorial is already underway. This year, the event will be organised by the Penya Blau i Grana de La Baells – Cercs and will be held on Sunday 29 March, in the town of Cercs. The event will feature the collaboration of the Penya Blau-Grana de Guardiola de Berguedà (of which Joan Casals was a member), the Federació de Penyes del Bages, Berguedà i Cerdanya, and the Cercs Town Council. Once again, a day of blaugrana fellowship is expected to honour such a key figure as Joan Casals and to celebrate his legacy within the penyes movement and across all of Barça fandom.
Schedule and registration
The activity will begin at 11.00 am. with a visit to the Cercs Mining Museum and entry into the mine. At 12.00 pm., at the Consolation Mine, the commemorative plaque of this memorial will be unveiled. At 1.00 pm., the historical remembrance event will take place, including a eulogy of Joan Casals i Boixader and a tribute to the mining accident of 1975 and the subsequent charity match between FC Barcelona and Barça Atlètic. Institutional speeches will also be delivered. A fellowship lunch will bring the day to a close.
