The PB Totana organizes sports tournaments for inmates in Murcia

As part of the “Ilusión Solidaria” program, the supporters’ club organized futsal, ping-pong, and badminton tournaments at the Murcia I Penitentiary Center.

On the occasion of the feast of Our Lady of Mercy, patron saint of people deprived of liberty, the Peña Barcelonista de Totana (Federación de Peñas de Murcia) once again carried out a special activity for the inmates of the Murcia I Penitentiary Center. In this edition, the Barça supporters’ club organized a futsal tournament, a ping-pong tournament, and a badminton tournament, which saw the participation of around fifty inmates in an atmosphere marked by the promotion of respect and coexistence. The initiative was supported by the Confederació Mundial de Penyes, which provided Barça-themed gifts to the participants of the various activities.

These sports tournaments are part of the “Ilusión Solidaria” program that PB Totana carries out at the Murcia I Penitentiary Center and the Guillermo Miranda Social Reintegration Center. Among other activities, this solidarity project includes a futsal sports school with weekly sessions for inmates. As stated by Juan Carrión, president of PB Totana and the Federación de Peñas de Murcia, the penya aims to promote the values associated with football and Barça spirit among a vulnerable group such as people deprived of liberty.
