On the occasion of the patronal feast of Sant Roc, the Penya Barcelonista de Porreres (Federació Balears) once again organized one of the most anticipated football events for the young people of this Mallorcan town. It is the 8th Children’s Football Campus and the 7-a-side Football Penalty Shootout, two activities that were held last Monday at the Camp Municipal d’Esports de Ses Forques and that took place in a festive, instructive and also exciting atmosphere. The PB Porreres had the collaboration of the Confederació Mundial de Penyes, which provided blaugrana materials and awards, as well as the Federació de Penyes de les Illes Balears and the City Council of Porreres.
Football and values
Between 9 and 12 am, the 8th Children’s Campus of PB Porreres brought together more than 40 children, aged between 6 and 14 years. All of them participated in a training session assisted by several coaches and, as always, they also received a talk to educate them in values. This year, it was given by Marta Escoda, professor at the UIB and member of the Advisory Council on bullying of the FC Barcelona Foundation. Escoda made the children aware of the prevention and fight against bullying, and conveyed to them the importance of following the values of coexistence and respect among all.
The second part of the day came at 19:30, with the always exciting PB Porreres Penalty Shootout. In it, 12 teams took part and competed against each other to decide the final winner, in a tournament that combined excitement with a very good atmosphere among all participants. In addition to the corresponding trophy, the PB Porreres awarded the winning team with three tickets to attend the LaLiga match between Barça and Mallorca, which will take place in April 2025.
The event was attended by Oscar Escoda, president of the Federació de Penyes de les Illes Balears, and Joan Obrador, councilman of citizen participation of the City of Porreres.
