The Federació de Penyes Barcelonistes de les Illes Balears had a double celebration last weekend with the 21st anniversary of the Penya Barcelonista Els Tamarells and the 40th anniversary of the Penya Barcelonista de Porreres. They were festive and emotional events, but also with a special historical component thanks to the presence at both of them of former players Pere Valentí Mora and Rafael Zuviría, protagonists, respectively, of the 0-5 at the Bernabéu in 1974 or the Cup Winners’ Cup in 1979.
Historical tributes at the PB Els Tamarells
On the occasion of its 21st anniversary, the PB Els Tamarells scheduled two days of activities in which historical conferences played an important role. The first was ‘Llegendaris’, a new format offered by the Confederació Mundial de Penyes and led by its vice-president Salva Torres. With the presence of the aforementioned Mora and Zuviría, the talk, organized by the Young Area of the PB Els Tamarells, recalled the Barça of the 1970s and the milestones it achieved. The event took place at the headquarters of the PB Els Tamarells, with the presence of more than 110 people, who then participated in the anniversary dinner organised by the supporters’ club.
The following day, it was the turn of the conference ‘Ambaixades: La historia de les Penyes’, also led by Salva Torres, together with Aksana Vayevoda. This session reviewed the more than 100 years of the supporters’ club movement and included the presentation of the book “L’Avi Joan”, by Jordi Monturiol, about Joan Casals, “L’Avi del Barça”. Monturiol himself and the son of Joan Casals took part in the conversation, recalling this figure who is held in such high esteem by Barça fans. The president of the PB Els Tamarells, Sebastià Oliver, led the events, which were also attended by Oscar Escoda, president of the Federació de les Illes Balears.
End of the celebrations of the PB Porreres
On the next day, many of the guests travelled to Porreres to attend the final party of the 40th anniversary of the PB Porreres, presided over by Bernadí Barceló. Here, Pere Valentí Mora and Rafael Zuviría also generated a good number of conversations with the attendees about the 0-5 at the Bernabéu and the Cup Winners’ Cup, in a very relaxed and festive atmosphere. There was also a tribute to one of the founders of the penya, Toni Martorell, who received a Lamine Yamal shirt, and tickets to see the first team were raffled among all the attendees. Porreres town councillors Marta Escoda and Sebastià Lliteres also took part in the event.
This party, with a large number of members in attendance, is the culmination of the 40th anniversary celebrations of the PB Porreres. A month ago, the blaugrana penya organised another emotional tribute to the figures who played a leading role in its first steps as a penya, including Toni Martorell. Thus, the PB Porreres wanted to praise its past, but also to look to the future with these four decades of history.
