The PB Ripollet and PB Montgrí i Comarca celebrate their 50th anniversary

Both entities brought together their supporters, Club members and Barça fans from their region to commemorate half a century of blaugrana passion

Two supporters’ clubs celebrated their 50th anniversary in style last Sunday. The Penya Barcelonista de Ripollet (Federació Vallès) and the Penya Barcelonista Montgrí i Comarca (Federació Empordà i Catalunya Nord) spent a very special day surrounded by their supporters, friends and other penyes who wanted to join them.

In Ripollet, around a hundred people gathered to commemorate the half-century of blaugrana passion of the PB Ripollet. The event, held in a local restaurant, was attended by Antoni Guil, president of the Confederació Mundial de Penyes and the Federació de Penyes del Vallès; Joan Giménez, president of the PB Ripollet and secretary of the Confederació; Jordi Costa, member of the FC Barcelona Social Commission; Paco Nieto, former football player and member of the Agrupació de Jugadors; and Audie Norris, former Barça basketball player.

The mayor of Ripollet, Luis Tirado, and the councillor Roger Bayó also took part. In addition, the president of the Federació Gironès, Selva, Garrotxa i Pla de l’Estany, Quim Vall-llosera, as well as entities of the Federació Vallès such as PB Sant Cugat, PB Montmeló, PB Ramon Llorens, PB Sabadell, PB Poblenou de La Salut, PB Mollet, PB Figaró-Montmany, PB Calderina and PB Parets accompanied the PB Ripollet in this celebration of its 50th anniversary. It was a very emotional event in which the importance of the Barça penyes and their strong roots in the territory was highlighted.

Blaugrana party in Torroella

For its part, the PB Montgrí i Comarca closed its 50th anniversary celebrations, which it has held throughout the year, with a big party at the Auditori Espai Ter in Torroella de Montgrí where more than 300 people gathered. The day began with a floral tribute to the plaque of the penya’s founder, Jaume Sullastres, followed by a visit to the exhibition commemorating the 50th anniversary of the PB Montgrí i Comarca. Afterwards, a blaugrana parade with the traditional “gegants” and “capgrosos” accompanied the culer delegation to the stage of the final party.

The events were led by the president of the PB Montgrí i Comarca, Joan Casas, together with his entire board of directors. Also in attendance were the vice-president of the Social Area of FC Barcelona, Antoni Escudero, and the member of the Agrupació de Jugadors, Paco Martinez. The mayor of Torroella de Montgrí, Jordi Colomí, didn’t missed it too. In addition, other entities such as PB Palamós, PB Bisbal de l’Empordà, PB Pals, PB Alt Empordà, PB Olot and PB Calaf joined the party, and even the PB Gabriel López-Sola from St. Juery travelled from France. The performance of the Montgrins Orchestra was the finishing touch to a day that will go down in the history of the PB Montgrí i Comarca.
