Last Sunday marked the start of the Asian Tour of the Barça men’s football team, and once again, the blaugrana penyes movement played a leading role. Just as has happened in the United States in recent years, the Asian supporters’ clubs didn’t miss the chance to see their idols up close and show their passion for the blaugrana colors. The Japanese city of Kobe was the setting for the team’s welcome, with Penya FCB Japan and Penya Blaugrana de Shanghai acting as hosts. The latter brought a large group of supporters from China to experience FC Barcelona’s presence in Asia firsthand.
Both the Japanese and Chinese penyes took part in a reception with the Club’s institutional delegation, led by president Joan Laporta. When it was time for the match against Vissel Kobe, they headed to the stadium to enjoy the game. Also present were members of PB Indobarça Cirebon and PB London, who traveled to Japan specifically to be close to Hansi Flick’s team. For the upcoming matches of the Asian tour, which will take place in South Korea, the presence of more penyes is also expected. This is yet another demonstration that the supporters’ club movement serves as an ambassador of Barça fandom around the world.
