Last Sunday, June 7, L’Hospitalet de l’Infant experienced a major blaugrana celebration on the occasion of the 22nd Meeting of Barça Penyes of Tarragona Nord. The event was organised by Penya Barça de L’Hospitalet de l’Infant, which was also celebrating its 40th anniversary, together with the Federació de Penyes de Tarragona Nord, with the collaboration of the Confederació Mundial de Penyes, the Ajuntament de L’Hospitalet de l’Infant and various local businesses. The gathering brought together more than 100 culers representing 21 penyes and filled the streets of the Tarragona town with blaugrana colours.
An intense day of Barça spirit
The day began with the reception of the participating penyes at the PB L’Hospitalet de l’Infant headquarters, where they shared a welcome vermouth. From there, the first blaugrana parade set off through the streets of the municipality. In addition to the penyes’ banners, the presence of the “capgròs” of Avi del Barça stood out, following the route from a vehicle customised for the occasion, along with the entertainment provided by Suquet Calero band from L’Ametlla de Mar.
The destination was the Town Hall, where the Barça procession was welcomed by mayor Assumpció Castellví and councillor Yolanda Marqués. Also present were Francesc Candela, president of PB L’Hospitalet de l’Infant; Joan Amigó, president of the Federació de Penyes de Tarragona Nord; Josep Ignasi Macià, member of the Club’s board of directors; Jordi Brull, member of the Social Comission; Pere Valentí Mora, vice-president of the Agrupació de Jugadors del FC Barcelona; and former player Ramon Calderé.
Afterwards, the penyes attending the 22nd Meeting of Tarragona Nord resumed the parade to the Vistamar hotel, the venue for the final celebration. There, the official speeches were delivered, as was the exchange of gifts between the penyes. The fellowship lunch culminated with the blowing out of candles to celebrate the 40th anniversary of PB L’Hospitalet de l’Infant, followed by a final musical performance by Miquel del Roig. The gathering was a complete success and left all the Barça supporters in attendance with very fond memories.
