The “Villa de Peguera” Charity Tournament repeats its success in its 13th edition

A total of 260 U-12 players competed in a new edition of the tournament organised by PB Peguera-Calvià, which raised 1,400 euros for charitable causes.

The major annual event of the Penya Barcelonista de Peguera-Calvià (Federació de Penyes de les Illes Balears) was once again a great success. The 13th edition of the “Villa de Peguera” Under-12 Charity Tournament once again brought excitement to the Mallorcan town with an 8-a-side football competition full of emotion and a spirit of solidarity. The Es Pas de Ses Llebres Municipal Ground in Peguera welcomed a total of 3,000 spectators over the three days of the tournament, in which 260 under-12 players and 65 coaches from 20 high-level teams took part.

This 13th edition of the “Villa de Peguera” Charity Tournament once again featured youth teams from major clubs such as FC Barcelona, RCD Mallorca, Villarreal CF, Sevilla FC and Elche CF, along with numerous teams from across Mallorca. After an initial group stage, the knockout rounds followed, leading to the grand final between FC Barcelona and Elche. On this occasion, victory went to the Alicante-based team. In any case, fair play and sporting values were once again at the heart of the entire competition.

Fundraising success

The 13th edition of the “Villa de Peguera” Charity Tournament once again recorded major success in its charitable aspect. In total, 1,400 euros were donated to the “Mario – Mi Pequeño Gran Héroe” initiative, which supports a child affected by the rare Wilson Turner condition, and to the association Asdica, which assists people with disabilities and their families in Calvià. In addition to the high public turnout, the funds also came from the charity raffle organised by the supporters’ club, with prizes including shirts signed by the squads of the major participating clubs, a shirt from Mallorca player Miguel Calatayud, a shirt signed by Palma Futsal and futsal tickets provided by the Palma Futsal Foundation.

The president of PB Peguera-Calvià, Sebastian Palmer, led the organisation together with the members of the penya. The event was attended by Joan Josep Estella, a member of the FC Barcelona Players’ Association; Juan Antonio Mengual, mayor of Calvià; Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, delegate of the Balearic Government; José Tirado, vice-president of the Balearic Football Federation; and Antonio Mayor, president of the Peguera Hoteliers’ Federation.

Now, PB Peguera-Calvià is already looking ahead to the 14th edition of the tournament, scheduled for September 2027.
