Last September, the Penya Barcelonista de Santiago de Xile (FCB World Federation) celebrated its 21st anniversary with a big blaugrana party. The venue was Club Suizo in the Chilean capital, where a large group of members of the supporters’ club shared a very special evening. The event once again highlighted the strong sense of community that defines the penya, as well as its dynamism throughout the year.
A penya in great shape
The event began with a reception for attendees and a welcoming address by the president of PB Santiago de Xile, Jordi Castellà. This was followed by a review of the activities carried out by the organization during the 2025/26 season. Highlights included the major celebrations of the titles won, meetings with figures such as Carles Puyol, Ronald Araújo and Rafa Márquez, and the solidarity campaigns by the Chilean penya to help those affected by the earthquakes in Venezuela and Colombia.
Next, PB Santiago de Xile organized a short quiz to test the attendees’ Barça knowledge and held a prize draw. The penya 21st anniversary celebration also featured an impressive exhibition of historic FC Barcelona memorabilia presented by “Museu 1899”, a collector who is a member of the Chilean organization.
Catalan courses for penya members
Another highlight of the evening was the presentation of certificates to the penya members who completed the Catalan course offered by PB Santiago de Xile during the first half of 2026. This initiative, which arose from within the club’s own community, provided online sessions for members interested in becoming more closely acquainted with Catalan culture through its language. Under the guidance of an experienced teacher, they learned vocabulary, expressions, and practical applications. In this way, PB Santiago de Xile demonstrates its commitment to Catalan identity beyond football.
