The town of Sarral recently enjoyed a thoroughly blaugrana day to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the Penya Barcelonista de Sarral. The organisation, which belongs to the Federació de Penyes de Tarragona Nord, prepared a packed programme of activities that involved the whole town and encouraged both adults and children to take part in this major event.
A full day with a Barça spirit
The start of the celebration was announced by a firecracker display of three loud bangs that echoed at 12 noon. In the afternoon, a popular hot chocolate gathering brought together Barça supporters of all ages on the town promenade, from where a blaugrana parade set off through the main streets accompanied by an entertainment group. The final stop was Plaça de la Societat, where the central event of PB Sarral’s 55th anniversary took place. First, prizes were awarded for a drawing competition in which the children from Sarral’s school had taken part, and this was followed by the fellowship dinner, which brought together more than 100 people.
Antonio Bertran, president of PB Sarral, acted as host for the other attendees, among whom were Joan Amigó, president of the Federació de Penyes de Tarragona Nord; Marc Ciria, a pre-candidate for the FC Barcelona presidency in the last elections; Josep Maria Nogués and Vicente Amigó, members of the FC Barcelona Players’ Association; and Francesc Llobet, a member of the Club’s Social Commission. The mayor of Sarral, Jaume Fornés, also attended.
In addition to the strong presence of PB Sarral members, there were also supporters from PB Santa Coloma de Queralt, PB Casal Barcelonista de Tarragona Francesc Serra and PB L’Espluga de Francolí. All of them, together with the rest of the participants, enjoyed a fireworks display that provided the perfect finishing touch to a day full of activity and Barça passion.
