The final week of August brought two more reasons to celebrate in two football tournaments involving Barça supporters’ clubs. On one hand, Penya Barcelonista Els Tamarells (Federació Balears) took part in a new edition, the 24th, of the Sant Agustí Penyes Tournament; on the other, Peña Palentina del FC Barcelona (Federación de Peñas de Castilla y León) was one of the main participants in the 5th Palencia Penyes Tournament. As happened last year, both penyes showed blaugrana superiority and claimed their respective trophies.
PB Els Tamarells has no rival
The Mallorcan town of Felanitx once again hosted the Sant Agustí Penyes Tournament, as part of the Festes de Sant Agustí celebrations at the end of August. The 24th edition of this competition once again brought together the four local penyes: Penya Barcelonista Els Tamarells, Penya San Mamés, Penya Mallorquinista Cercle Recreatiu and Penya Madridista Fusión Café. The blaugrana team was unrivalled: it won all three of its games, and secured its fourth consecutive title, bringing its total to 16 titles in 24 editions. The Sant Agustí Penyes Tournament stands out for having no referees; as a result, sportsmanship and good relations among all the teams prevail.
PB Palentina strengthens its dominance
Once again, the San Antolín festivities in the city of Palencia included the Palencia Penyes Tournament, which reached its 5th edition. Organised by Palencia City Council, the championship brought together four local penyes: Peña Palentina del FC Barcelona, Peña Bética Palentina, Peña Real Sociedad Palencia and Peña Athletic Palencia. As has happened in four of the five editions held of this penyes tournament, the blaugrana team was the best side and took the title. Beyond the winner, the competition was marked by a good atmosphere and respect among all the participating supporters.
