PB Parets del Vallès celebrates its 46th anniversary

The celebrations lasted throughout the weekend and included the traditional Josep Seguer Memorial football tournament and a gala lunch attended by nearly one hundred people.

The Penya Blaugrana de Parets del Vallès (Federació de Penyes Barcelonistes del Vallès) enjoyed a very special weekend to mark its 46th anniversary. The supporters’ club wanted to share this milestone with its members through a range of activities celebrating all these years of Barça support in the town of Parets del Vallès. The programme culminated in a major gala lunch attended by nearly one hundred people.

A “pre-anniversary” with El Clásico in mind

The events marking the 46th anniversary of PB Parets began on Thursday with an unusual initiative designed to build excitement ahead of El Clásico between Barça and Real Madrid, to be played on Sunday, 25 October. At its premises, the penya organised a screening of the 2010 match in which Barça defeated Real Madrid 5–0, with José Mourinho as a coach at the time. Albert Lesán and Lucho Arias provided the commentary, allowing everyone in attendance to relive that famous five-goal Barça victory with great emotion and plenty of humour aimed at the club’s eternal rival.

Josep Seguer Memorial and gala lunch

After the traditional Saturday evening mass held in memory of penya members who had passed away during the previous year, Sunday morning brought one of the celebration’s first highlights: the Josep Seguer Memorial. This year, the traditional tribute to former Barça player Josep Seguer featured two simultaneous 7-a-side football matches: CF Parets against CE Santa Eulàlia de Ronçana (amateur) and CF Parets against CE Terrassa (U-11). The honouree’s daughters and son, Isabel, Montserrat and Josep, were present, as was Jaume Huguet, a member of the Agrupació de Jugadors del FC Barcelona. They all took part in the ceremonial kick-offs and the presentation of commemorative trophies.

The gala lunch brought PB Parets del Vallès’s 46th anniversary celebrations to a close, with more than 90 people sharing an event filled with emotion and passion for Barça. Those attending included Joan Viñas, president of PB Parets del Vallès; Xavier Bertran, a member of the Club’s Advisory Council; Francesc Juzgado, mayor of Parets del Vallès; Francisco de la Torre, deputy mayor; and Oscar Noguera, president of CF Parets. The Confederació Mundial de Penyes contributed to the event by providing the La Liga trophy.
