The Confederació Mundial de Penyes held last Sunday the last Plenary of the Penyes Council of this year 2024. And it did so by demonstrating once again the willingness of this entity to become a space open to all FC Barcelona supporters’ groups. The meeting again had a hybrid format, with members participating in person at the headquarters of the Confederació and others connecting telematically from different territories. It consisted of three blocks.
In the first one, the members of the Penyes Council and the Advisory Council, led by the president of the Confederació Mundial de Penyes, Antoni Guil, took stock of the last part of the year. Among other issues, Guil highlighted the strength of the Confederació as an institution within the FC Barcelona world and its willingness to open doors to any voice that wants to address the penyes collective. He also valued the collaboration with Aficiones Unidas. For his part, vice-president Salva Torres reviewed the events held in recent months, as well as the success of new conferences and solidarity initiatives such as the one that has raised more than 17,000 euros for those affected by the floods in the Valencian Community. Finally, the treasurer Vicenç Notari presented the proposal of economic closure of the Confederation.
Espai d’Animació
The second part of the plenary session featured representatives of the Espai d’Animació, with the presence of Albert Yarza, president of the Penya Almogàvers, and Josep Lluis Abad, president of the PB Creu de Sant Jordi, one of the pioneers of this collective. The Council members were able to learn first-hand about the current situation of the Espai d’Animació and its relationship with the Club, and listened to a manifesto by Abad defending the role of this group. At the request of the representatives, the Confederació has sent this manifesto to all supporters’ clubs. The need for dialogue and unity were the conclusions of this plenary session.
Presence of Víctor Font
The last block of the meeting had as a guest Víctor Font, former presidential candidate and leader of the “Sí al Futur” movement. As Ricard Faura (Dignitat Blaugrana) and Joan Camprubí (Som un Clam) did at the Plenary at the end of September, Font addressed the representatives of the federations of penyes to present his vision of the current situation of the Club at the social, institutional, sporting and economic levels. Likewise, the members of the Penyes Council were able to express their opinions and concerns, which were carefully attended by Font, who was accompanied by the former board member Antoni Rovira.
Thus, the Confederació Mundial de Penyes continues to show its clear vocation as a space open to all FC Barcelona supporters, always with the aim of defending the penyes collective and the social mass of the Club.
