The campaign to raise funds for those affected by the DANA in the Valencian Community organised by the Federació de Penyes Barcelonistes de València i Marina Alta together with the Confederació Mundial de Penyes has been a great success. Thanks to the contributions from penyes, supporters and other individuals, a final figure of 18,000 euros has been reached, which once again demonstrates the solidarity power of this blaugrana collective.
The presentation of this raising took place last Saturday at the headquarters of the Penya Barcelonista de Massanassa, which was one of the entities directly affected by those floods, along with the Penya Barcelonista de Catarroja. The event was attended by Antoni Guil, president of the Confederació Mundial de Penyes; Miquel Gomis, president of the Federació de Penyes de València i Marina Alta; José Juan Moncholís, president of the PB Massanassa; and David Pascual, president of the PB Catarroja. There were also board members of the Federació de València i Marina Alta, as well as representatives of other supporters’ clubs from this region.
Aid for the most affected associations
The distribution of the 18,000 euros collected has been coordinated by the Massanassa and Catarroja penyes, as they have first-hand knowledge of the situation in the most affected area. The recipients have been the Association of Merchants and Small Businessmen of Massanassa (ACEMASS), the Association of Merchants and Small Businessmen of Catarroja (ACYPE), Bombers Pel Món, the AMPA of the IES Massanassa and the Cultural Association ‘La Terreta’. The latter is the one that houses the premises of the PB Massanassa and was a refreshment centre during the days following the DANA.
All these associations, who were also present at the ceremony, thanked the blaugrana penyes for this help, which will allow them to continue working to repair the damage and restore normality as far as possible. During the ceremony, a minute of silence was also held for all those who died during this tragic episode in the Valencian Community.
