The PB Sant Cugat and the PB L’Escala celebrate 46 years of history

Both penyes organized large-scale anniversary parties in their towns, joined by their members and other friendly penyes

Two renowned penyes coincided in celebrating their anniversary last weekend: the Penya Blaugrana Sant Cugat (Federació Vallès) and the Penya Blaugrana L’Escala (Federació Empordà i Catalunya Nord). Both reached the milestone of 46 years of history and commemorated it with two major celebrations in their respective towns.

Tributes at PB Sant Cugat

The restaurant Casa Fuster Masia in Sant Cugat hosted around 150 people for the celebration of the 46th anniversary of the Penya Blaugrana Sant Cugat. The event featured Antoni Guil, president of the Confederació Mundial de Penyes and the Federació de Penyes del Vallès; Antonio Escudero, social vice-president of FC Barcelona; Josep Maria Félez, president of PB Sant Cugat; and Paco Martínez, member of the Agrupació de Jugadors of FC Barcelona. The mayor of Sant Cugat, Josep Maria Vallès, was also present, along with other authorities from the municipality and the region. In addition, representatives from more than twenty other penyes joined PB Sant Cugat for this special occasion.

The celebration included speeches from the main guests, who all highlighted the importance of penyes within the Barça universe. Josep Maria Félez also announced his intention to step down as president of PB Sant Cugat in 2027, after 25 years leading the entity. During the event, Félez paid tribute to the vice-presidents of the penya, Pau Pulido and Sergi Fontgivell, for their long-standing contributions. The cake cutting and a raffle of various gifts for attendees rounded off the celebration.

The PB L’Escala wants to keep growing

Almost simultaneously with the Sant Cugat event, the town of L’Escala was also filled with Barça supporters to celebrate the 46th anniversary of Penya Blaugrana L’Escala. Over a hundred people attended the party held at the Sala Polivalent Municipal. The event, led by David Falgàs, president of the PB L’Escala and the Federació Empordà i Catalunya Nord, featured Salva Torres, vice-president of the Confederació Mundial de Penyes; Quim Vall-Llosera, president of Federació Gironès, Selva, Garrotxa i Pla de l’Estany; and Antoni Valverde, president of Federació Bages, Berguedà i Cerdanya. Also present were Paco Nieto, member of the Agrupació Barça Jugadors; Josep Bofill, mayor of L’Escala; and Cristina Viegas, councilor for Youth, Festivities and Associations of the municipality.

The Barça spirit prevailed throughout the celebration, which also welcomed representatives from other penyes in the region. The event included a raffle of gifts from local businesses and a performance by the habaneras group Barca de Mitjana, which was the icing on the cake. The PB L’Escala reaches this 46-year milestone in great shape and is launching a membership drive aiming to reach 500 members.
