The Penya Barcelonista Washington DC (FCB World Federation) once again partnered with the DC Scores association for its Fall Frenzy event. This is an annual community festival for schoolchildren aged 8 to 11 that features an 8-a-side football tournament, craft booths, various team-building activities, a live DJ, lunch for everyone, and many other initiatives. Once again, the PB Washington participated by providing a large number of volunteers, half of whom are members of the Barça penya. They helped set up and run the activities and also took part in the football matches as referees and assistants.
Thanks to the contribution of the penya’s volunteers, led by their president Sara Adkins-Blanch, the event was a great success and once again strengthened the sense of community among schoolchildren in the U.S. capital. The DC Scores association works directly with schools to empower students through sports and poetry – a mission that the PB Washington identified with from the very beginning. Starting this fall, the supporters’ club is also making a monthly financial contribution to DC Scores to continue supporting its social work.
