200 boys and girls take part in the XXI Sant Jaume Tournament of PB Premià de Dalt

Over more than a month of competition, the penya of the Federació Maresme consolidated the success of an event that brings together futsal players from the U-7, U-9, U-11, and U-13 categories.

Once again, the Sant Jaume festivities in Premià de Dalt, at the end of July, coincided with the conclusion of one of the events that has already become firmly established in this Maresme town: the Sant Jaume Children’s Futsal Tournament of the Penya Barcelonista de Premià de Dalt. This year, the competition reached its XXI edition, once again with great success of participation: 200 boys and girls from across the region enjoyed more than a month of competition at the Sant Jaume Sports Court.

Closing ceremony with special guests

The tournament’s closing ceremony took place on 30 July, when the finals of the different categories were played amid great excitement and with a large audience in attendance. Present at the awards ceremony were Ramon Pruna, president of the Federació de Penyes del Maresme; Aureli Mas, FC Barcelona board member; Alberto Manga, member of the Agrupació de Jugadors del FC Barcelona; and Vanessa Cano, sports councillor of Premià de Dalt. Representing PB Premià de Dalt, the president David Villanueva, social vice-president Francisco Ignacio Romero and tournament director Marta Quintero were also in attendance.

The presence of Laura Puchol, daughter of the penya’s founder and creator of the tournament, Joan Puchol, was also special. She was precisely the person in charge of presenting the Joan Puchol Trophy, launched this year by the Barça supporters’ club. The III Marcos Jover Memorial was also awarded to the best player of the tournament, along with various prizes for top scorers, least-beaten goalkeepers, special players, best coaches, teams with the best fair play and, of course, the top three teams in each category. In addition, all tournament participants receive a medal.

Fair play and well-being

No matter the winners, the Sant Jaume Futsal Tournament of PB Premià de Dalt promotes an atmosphere of respect and fair play among all participants. The penya also looks after the well-being of the young players by offering them fruit and water after each matchday. As the penya president, David Villanueva, points out, the tournament has become the most special event for PB Premià de Dalt, and every year it is eagerly awaited by young people from the Maresme. From now on, the countdown begins for the next edition, in the summer of 2027.
