PB Lubumbashi organizes a match for women’s rights

The supporters’ club from the Democratic Republic of the Congo brought together its female members of all ages to share a day linked to International Women’s Day

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, celebrated on March 8, Penya Barça Lubumbashi (FCB World Federation) wanted to express its support for women’s rights through a sporting initiative in which the penya’s female members took center stage. The FC Barcelona supporters’ club from the Democratic Republic of the Congo organized a friendly football match between a women’s team and another made up of its youngest members, held at sports facilities in their city. It was a festive event, marked by a sea of blaugrana shirts and the Barça’s second kits, which colored all the pitch.

With the presence of its president, Serge Patrick Kaninda, who acted as coach of the women’s team, PB Lubumbashi once again demonstrated that football can be an effective means of conveying values such as equality and mutual respect. This initiative is part of the Congolese penya’s activities throughout 2026, a year in which it has planned other socially oriented initiatives and aims to continue strengthening and expanding the Barça community in its city and across the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
