PB Dakar concludes its 3rd Children’s Football Tournament with great emotion

The day included a match between the blaugrana supporters’ club and the Marseille supporters’ club, as well as a heartfelt tribute in memory of the club’s patron and honorary president, Mamadou Lamine Mboup

Penya Blaugrana Dakar (FCB World Federation) held the final of the 3rd edition of its Children’s Football Tournament with great organizational success. The event, which took place at the Alassane Djigo Stadium in Pikine, once again stood out for its sporting and educational spirit, while also including highly emotional moments. The day began with a gala match between Penya Blaugrana Dakar and the invited supporters’ club “Les Marseillais du Sénégal,” made up of Olympique de Marseille fans. The match ended in a 1-1 draw, in an atmosphere of fellowship and respect between both teams.

A closely contested final

Next, the Senegalese academies Puissance FC and Horizon Football Club faced each other in the grand final of PB Dakar’s 3rd Children’s Football Tournament. For the match, the supporters’ club gave each team 20 Barça shirts (the home kit to one team and the away kit to the other). It was an intense and hard-fought final, which ended with a 2-1 victory for Puissance FC. The winning team also dominated the individual awards, with Samba Diop named best player, Nalla Gningue top scorer, and Babacar Seck best goalkeeper.

During the awards ceremony, medals, trophies, and recognitions were presented to the participants, including distinctions for coaches and collaborators. In this context, the president of Penya Blaugrana Dakar, Mayté, highlighted the tournament’s growth and the importance of promoting grassroots football as an educational tool and a means of social cohesion. In this way, the Barcelona supporters’ club reaffirms its commitment to the values of Barça and its supporters’ clubs.

Heartfelt tribute to Mamadou Lamine Mboup

The day was also marked by the heartfelt tribute that PB Dakar wished to pay to Mamadou Lamine Mboup, patron and honorary president of the supporters’ club, who recently passed away. The young footballers wore commemorative shirts in his memory, while the honouree’s children performed the ceremonial kickoff of the final. In addition, the supporters’ club’s board presented a tribute plaque to the family and announced that, from now on, the tournament trophy will bear the name of Mamadou Lamine Mboup, in recognition of his legacy.

With this third edition, Penya Blaugrana Dakar consolidates its children’s tournament as a benchmark event in youth football development in Senegal’s capital. Likewise, the supporters’ club strengthens its position as a reference point in promoting sport and transmitting blaugrana values among the young people of its country.
