The Peña Barcelonista de Totana (Federación de Peñas Barcelonistas de Murcia) has presented a charity cheque worth €4,168 to the International Association of Relatives and People Affected by Lipodystrophies (AELIP) and the D’Genes Rare Diseases Association. This amount, which will be shared between the two organisations, is the final fundraising total from the 3rd Grassroots Football Day organised at the end of March by PB Totana itself, in collaboration with the PB Totana – Santa Eulalia Football School.
The cheque presentation took place at the “Celia Carrión Pérez de Tudela” Multidisciplinary Centre in Totana. Representatives of the Peña Barcelonista de Totana and of the beneficiary associations attended the event, led by Juan Carrión, president of the Federación de Peñas de Murcia and of AELIP. During the event, AELIP and D’Genes expressed their gratitude for the commitment and involvement of the organisers of the 3rd Grassroots Football Day, its participants and everyone who contributed to this charitable initiative.
More than 250 children at the 3rd Grassroots Football Day
The 3rd Grassroots Football Day, organised by the Peña Barcelonista de Totana in collaboration with the PB Totana – Santa Eulalia Football School, took place on 28 March as part of World Rare Disease Day and World Lipodystrophy Day. The event brought together more than 250 children and combined sport, inclusion and solidarity, promoting values such as camaraderie, respect and teamwork.
In addition to encouraging sporting activity among young people, the initiative aimed to help raise public awareness of the realities faced by people with rare diseases and their families. Thanks to the high level of participation and the involvement of families, athletes, volunteers and collaborators, the €4,168 now donated to AELIP and D’Genes was raised. Both organisations will use these funds to develop their programmes and services to improve the quality of life of people affected by rare diseases and lipodystrophies, respectively, as well as that of their families.
