The Penya Blaugrana de Baghdad (FCB World Federation) was crowned champion of the Padbol Tournament organised by the Official European Clubs Supporters Association in Iraq (ECSA), after winning the grand final in a true “Clásico” against the Real Madrid penya. Combining padel and football on an enclosed court, padbol is a spectacular discipline with a very high pace, where great combinations and plays can be seen. Thanks to their brilliant technique, the members of PB Baghdad managed to take the blaugrana colours to the very top.
The competition featured a total of 12 Iraqi supporters’ clubs, representing the colours of Barça, Borussia Dortmund, Roma, Aston Villa, Inter Milan, Valencia, Atlético Madrid, Juventus, Chelsea, Sevilla, Real Madrid and the Netherlands national team. After an opening stage with two groups of six teams, the final between the two best supporters’ clubs produced a “Clásico” that PB Baghdad won by 2 sets to 0. In this way, the “culers” gave the white side no chance and lifted the ECSA Padbol Tournament trophy.
This title once again demonstrates the high sporting level of the members of PB Baghdad. In addition to this padbol competition, the Iraqi supporters also stand out for their futsal team, which also competes in tournaments against the other penyes in the West Asian country.
