The Penya Barcelonista Bou (Federació de Penyes del Barcelonès Oest) celebrated its 35th anniversary by organising its traditional Futsal Tournament, which reached its 29th edition this year. The event took place at the sports facilities of the University of Barcelona, at the entrance to the city, and participation increased to more than 70 players, spread across a total of eight teams. The main new feature of this edition was the introduction of a children’s category, which helped to encourage the participation of the youngest participants.
For the third consecutive year, Maximum Attack claimed overall victory in the senior category, defeating Família Tomàs. Penya Bou, with a much younger squad, finished in fourth place. In the children’s category, Sector Montserratina Jr emerged as the winner after beating Maximum Bou Jr. Beyond the results, the 29th Penya Bou Futsal Tournament took place in a great atmosphere among the adult and young participants. After the awards ceremony, a fellowship dinner was held to close the celebration of the penya’s 35th anniversary.
Collaboration with Cáritas’ Young Migrants programme
Once again, the Penya Bou Futsal Tournament featured the special participation of the Joves d’Àfrica team, made up of young people under guardianship and formerly under guardianship accompanied by Cáritas Barcelona as part of its Young Migrants project. This collaboration is linked to the involvement of a PB Bou member at Cáritas Barcelona, where he supports unaccompanied young migrants. In this way, the blaugrana entity, chaired by Sergi Esteban, is doing its part to help improve the lives of these young people at risk of exclusion, who find in a tournament like this a tool for social integration.
