Once again this summer, the Penya Barcelonista de Calaf i Comarca (Federació Anoia, Alt Penedès i Garraf) did not miss its appointment with one of its most popular and widely attended initiatives. The 22nd edition of the 3×3 Football Championship – 18th Jordi Borràs Memorial was once again a resounding success in terms of participation and organization, with four days of competition and nearly 400 male and female players divided into 85 teams. As usual, the venue was Plaça de Barcelona ’92 in the town of Calaf, where 196 three-a-side football matches were played, from the “babys” category through to seniors, including two women’s categories.
As usual, the 3×3 Championship of the PB Calaf i Comarca not only mobilized the people of Calaf, where it is already one of the star events of every summer, but also attracted participants from other places such as Igualada, Sant Joan de Vilatorrada, Guissona and Cervera, among others. The tournament had to cope with high temperatures during the weekend, but rescheduled the matches to more convenient times to protect the health of all participants. This was the 18th edition of the event as the Jordi Borràs Memorial, paying tribute to a member of the PB Calaf i Comarca board who passed away in 2008.
Thrilling matches and a great atmosphere
The 3×3 Football Championship of the PB Calaf i Comarca is distinctive because it is played on an enclosed 20×10-metre pitch with goals similar in size to those used in roller hockey. The facility is supported by the Diputació de Barcelona and the Ajuntament de Calaf. Matches last only 10 minutes and the clock does not stop, keeping the excitement alive until the final moment. The atmosphere is mainly festive and marked by great respect among all players, something that also extends beyond the pitch, where the public fills the stands throughout every day of competition.
In addition to the finalist and winning teams in each category, the 3×3 Football Championship of the PB Calaf i Comarca recognized the best players of the tournament in both the men’s and women’s categories, who this year were Eric López and Mariona Vidal. A Barça shirt from the 2026-27 season and two penya shirts were also raffled. The members of the PB Calaf i Comarca, led by their president Edgar Cardona, celebrated the great success of the tournament and thanked all the organizations involved and the local businesses that collaborated. Everyone who attended is already looking forward to next year’s edition.
